Direct Support Professional

A Wide Range of Opportunities

Hours: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift (schedules may include every other weekend and some holidays)

Status: Full-time and Part-time


Legacy V Home Care strongly believes that every individual deserves the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential and care, we are committed to respecting and promoting the individual rights of clients, including maintaining the dignity of each person during daily care procedures. At the present time, we are looking for experienced individuals to fill the role of Direct Support Professional. The right candidate will be responsible for providing compassionate care and assistance to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. If you have at least 6 months prior experience working with developmentally disabled adults in a direct care role, we encourage you to apply for this position.  


What you will be responsible for as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) Caregiver:


  • Provide direct care support to our clients with disabilities

  • Follow Individual Service Plans (ISP) and protocols

  • Direct support for activities of daily living; bathing, grooming, toileting, and hygiene

  • Enhance the overall health, safety, and welfare of our clients

  • Provide medications reminders and utilize assistive medical devices as needed, per ISP

  • Planning and participating in community and home-based activities

  • Redirecting individuals when exhibiting inappropriate behaviors

  • Other duties as assigned


Skills and Qualifications:


  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Previous experience providing direct care to clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities

  • Sufficient reading, writing, comprehension, and communication skills in English to perform essential duties and responsibilities

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to communicate and work professionally and cooperatively with others

  • Ability to work independently

  • Valid driver's license and car insurance

  • Ability to successfully pass all post-offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, drug screening, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States

  • Current First Aid and CPR certification required (CPR/First training is available)

  • Ability to run, push, pull, bend, squat, kneel, lift, carry, balance and transfer clients up to 75lbs (with the assistance of others and mechanical lift)


*Medication administration certification is ideal but not required
